The Place Navigator

The Place Navigator is designed to help university staff and academics better understand the key infrastructures that shape their locality. Each page is tailored to a specific 'infrastructure', such as Education & Skills, Health and Social Care, or Local Government, offering practical insights and guidance to build meaningful partnerships and drive civic impact.

I worked with the National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement to help them refine the focus of the Place Navigator and develop a robust template for the seven sectors that are featured on the website.

Each 'sector' is organised into a simple, and easy to use template that supports users in getting to grips with their local area. Having worked with the NCCPE to develop the templates, I supported the content writing and research for the resource. Including:

  • Overview: An introduction to each sector
  • Key agendas: Written guides to key priorities you may encounter when working with people in this sector
  • Top tips for partnership work: Practical advice for working together
  • Existing relationships and activity: Guidance on where to look in the University for existing partnerships with this sector
  • Case studies: Examples of activities that are underway between universities and organisations
  • Birds Eye view: An overview of the key organisations and governing bodies
  • Resources: Links to further resources.

The final resource is available from the Civic University Network.
